Following Jesus – Being a disciple of Jesus and learning to be more and more like Him is an exciting and never ending adventure.
Just like anything else we want to improve in our lives our faith life and the development of a more godly character requires study and practice.
There is stuff to learn and to put into practice no matter how long or short your walk with the Lord Jesus has been so far.
From time to time we will have activities and events to help you along the path and they will be listed on the “What’s Happening” page.
But there are three things you can do for yourself at any time:
1. Pray
At the beginning of each day ask God to go before you into that day.
Thank God at the end of each day for being with you during the day.
Ask His advice often (even about routine things) and take the time to listen to His answer before you act.
2. Study the Word of God
When all is said and done God went to a great deal of trouble over many thousands of years so we could have His word for us hear today in our own language.
As Paul the Apostle told Timothy:
“Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God’s will in thought, purpose, and action), so that the man of God may be complete and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work. “(2 Timothy 3:16-17 AMP)
3. Spend time with other Christians
Attend Church regularly, weekly if you can, and be part of a small group that also meets regularly.
There are small groups that meet over lunch in their workplaces, around their shared love of gardening or even cooking, perhaps you all have children of the same age or attending the same school.
It doesn’t matter the excuse as long you invite God, talk about your faith and have fun together.
